Wheat Ridge Housing Authority Condo Conversion Projects
In cooperation with The Wheat Ridge Housing Authority, Jefferson County
Housing Authority is working to develop affordable housing for first-time
buyers, in Wheat Ridge. We are currently completing our third conversion
of apartment buildings into condominiums for first time homebuyers.
The first project was 14 units completed in 2002 located at 38th and
Quail Street; the second project was 8 units completed in 2004 at 6410
West 44th Place. The third project that is available is 8 units at 4501
Everett Street. The buyers must occupy the property as their primary
residence. A single person earning approximately $30,000 can qualify
for one of these homes, if their debt is not to high, based on current
interest rates. This means that teachers, clerks, police and firefighters
of the community might be able to buy homes. For sales information, please
contact Larry Nelson at Cornerstone Reality at (303) 987-8812.
In Wheat Ridge, the emphasis is on home ownership for first-time buyers.
The City Council wanted to designs a program so working people could afford
a home. Before that could happen, the city needed to create the Wheat
Ridge Housing Authority (WRHA), which the City Council accomplished by
resolution in January 2001.
